Let’s Talk Aftercare

You know how we are always going on about how you have to be an active participant and do your homework? That homework should start as soon as you leave our session. We want to set you up for optimal relief! So, don’t waste your money and discomfort by ignoring the aftercare.

Every body is different, but typically YOU WILL BE SORE (this usually diminishes with each session IF you do your part). You may feel dizzy or “drunk” from the adrenaline and endorphins that can be released with this intense work (this is very temporary). Inflammation sets in to start repairing that torn up tissue and can cause the feeling of more tightness (that inflammation will move out and the tension will let go).

So what does Hurt Craft aftercare look like? Here are our super strong suggestions for the first 24 hours after your appointment:

  • DRINK YOUR WATER, PEOPLE! Drink as much water as you can. Think you’ve had enough? Drink 12 more ounces.
  • NO LIFTING WEIGHTS/HEAVY LIFTING for 24 hours after. Let those muscles relax! Your tissues have quite literally been torn apart…let your shit heal.
  • MOVE AND STRETCH. We don’t want you laying on the couch all day. Do some light cardio, go for a walk, hit up a yoga class or stretch it out at home. Movement will help reduce soreness and aid in your recovery.
  • HEAT, HEAT, HEAT. Take a hot epsom salt bath, use a heating pad, take a dip in a hot tub, sit in a sauna. Heat helps your muscles relax. They need to relax. *We do not recommend using ice in this instance because we want the inflammation to do its job*
  • DO YOUR HOMEWORK. We will give you more personalized suggestions and areas of focus between our sessions. Take your 24 hours to give your tissues a break from being compressed and torn up, but devise a plan on how you can begin to incorporate your daily recovery work into your schedule within the next couple of days!
