Our motto, “Some Pain, All Gain”, was born out

Our motto, “Some Pain, All Gain”, was born out of frustration for the massage industry’s aversion to discomfort. We see it and hear it all the time, “deep tissue shouldn’t hurt” “pain doesn’t fix pain” and my personal favorite, “the same results can be achieved through traditional work”. I think many of you are still waiting to see those big results from a feel good massage.

We understand the misconception. People assume this kind of work is a frenzy of prodding elbows and unnecessary pressure with no intuition or purpose other than inflicting pain. It’s the picture painted by well meaning massage therapists and practitioners who have yet to experience massage in terms of real treatment.

The truth is that stress is a necessary part of healing. You have to break what isn’t working and retrain it to work at maximum capacity. In this case, we’re breaking down your stuck fascia and releasing caught muscle fibers so you can do the work to recover and retrain your body to move the way it’s designed to as pain free as possible!

So yes, you’re going to experience some discomfort and pain. No, we’re not just flailing around with maximum pressure. Yes, traditionalists will always warn you against this. And yes, you will see results IF you are an active participant in your care.

In other words, don’t knock it until you try it!
